Artist's Description
The Pensacola Dam at Grand Lake is the world's largest multiple arch dam and spans almost a mile. This giant towers almost 150 feet above the riverbed and was Oklahoma's first hydroelectric facility. The bridge spans 5,145 feet and has 51 graceful arches. There are two spillway areas, each with 21 floodgates, and watching the powerful flows when these gates are open is mesmerizing! Completed in 1940, the beautiful Pensacola Dam has created 75 years of Grand Lake history!
